This app is very intuitive and nicely laid out.. The code is solid..
Best chess app on the iPhone. Ive used it for years and cannot praise it highly enough.
I love the turn based feature!
Love the coaching feature
I have tried a number of chess games for my IPad. This one is the best by far. Playing against the computer is addictive. Your score is rated up or down, depending on how you do. I started, with a rating of 600. I was over 2200 recently. The game is both challenging and fun.
I have been a chess enthusiast since the early 80s. I own a ton of chess software for the PC, Mac and iOS platforms. Playing chess with friends and family has become easier with the use of smart phones. Personally I thrive on improving my chess skills any chance I get. With only so much time in the day it’s difficult for me to review my games using a laptop or desktop computer. With tChess, it takes literally seconds to import my game and use the brand new Analyze game feature. At a glance, I can see how the game went with a histogram on the top of the screen and a chess board on the bottom showing the current move and the suggested move based on the engine’s analysis. This feature is invaluable and will quickly show you if there were any good moves that were missed or if there were any blunders that were made (on both sides). At a tap you can play out different variations using the engine. Then if you want to go back to the original game there is another new feature called Revert to PGN game which will take you back to the original game. These two particular features were added to the new version of tChess based on people’s requests! The programmer really takes pride in his work and is always willing to improve his creation. He should be extremely proud and the chess community should be eternally grateful for his dedication and attention to details. I know I am. Another quick thing I will like to mention is I love to play chess with my son, and when we play I can keep the iPhone between us and there is an option to flip the pieces! This way he can see the pieces with the correct orientation when he is across from me. I dont remember seeing that option in any other program, thats what you can expect with this app. There are so many features and options that make this my number one chess app.
Ive now played a slew of international turn based games and although the interface can be a little wonky, it works great.
Ive used this program for chess and chess instruction for a couple of years already. The current update is better than ever. For me, I cant think of anything that it is missing. Good and strong too.
Ive been playing computer chess games for 20 years. This is the best one Ive tried. I love it.
Excellent program. Makes weak openings and deliberate mistakes (I think) at times to give you a chance. Tough to beat otherwise.
I looked for a few months for a good computer chess app. Once I found this one about a year ago I loved it and havent been able to like any others. Great.
This is by far the best chess app Ive tried for the iPhone. I love the ease of import and export of PGN files. The interface is clean and evident. Top Notch.
Play it all the time! Great game
Gets better and better.
In terms of handling pgn games and databases, this app is without qualification the Best.
I love this program! The author worked with me to resolve a problem, so Im also happy with the customer service.
This is the best Chess app. Its very well written and clean looking. Its, in a word, classy.
I bought this to play chess against my dad, but it is so unwieldy that we havent been able to play a single game. Primarily, the problem is that the board disappears after every move and is supplanted by the active game against the computer. Then, its like pulling teeth to get back to the game to study it for the next move. I really wish there was a brain dead simple mode for this, because Id probably play it all the time.
I love this game! Once I discovered analyze game I thought I had gone to chess heaven. As others have mentioned, I wonder why it sometimes makes crazy moves. I will back it up and ask for the opposing side suggestion, so that Im back in a real game again. I mean, moving the rook three squares each direction over and over has to be a bug. Also, Im so frustrated with it closing the "analyze board" every time I click on the right side (>next arrow) that Im tempted to give a lower score. Cant though. Its way too much fun to give anything less than four stars!
